Who is this for: Anyone who's curious about working with clay, from complete beginners to those wanting to sharpen their skills. With a maximum of 6 students per session, there's plenty of hands-on time with the teacher and if you're more experienced, they'll tailor the guidance to where you want to push your throwing.

What happens: We kick off over a coffee with a throwing demonstration. Your teacher will walk you through the fundamentals of centring and pulling up clay, showing you how to shape cylinders into cups and vase forms.

The morning is yours to get stuck in. You'll have unlimited clay to work with, so we encourage you to explore, make mistakes and really get a feel for the material.

After a lunch break around 12.30, we're back at the wheels for a bowl-throwing demonstration before spending the afternoon on wider forms - cereal bowls, pasta bowls etc - with the freedom to return to taller forms whenever you like.

By the time you throw your last piece of the day, the difference from your first will amaze you. Our students from this course often say they can't believe how much it clicked over the course of the day and that they hadn’t expected to be able to make what they made.

You'll finish the day by choosing your three favourite pieces, which we'll trim, glaze and fire for you.

Already got some throwing under your belt? We'll help you troubleshoot, refine and push further - whether that's throwing bigger, working on lidded forms, moon jars or whatever you've been wanting to tackle.

Lunch: We break around 12.30 - bring something to eat with you (we have a fridge).

What can you expect to make: There’s no limit to how many pieces you can make in the session. But in terms of firing and finishing pieces, you choose your favourite three at the end which we will trim, glaze and fire for you.
