One day intensive pottery workshop focusing on wheel throwing.
Time: A 6hr day, start time as specified on the right.
Price: £190 for the full day course. All materials and firing costs included.
Who is this for: From complete beginners to people wanting to develop their throwing skills. As there’s max 6 students, everyone gets hands on tailored tuoition so all levels are welcome from beginner to intermediete.
What happens in this day: Over a coffee, you’ll start by watching a short throwing demonstation before getting on the wheel yourself.
Depending on your level, either we can start work on the fundamentals of throwing (cylinders, small bowls).
If you’re more intermediete we will help you refine your skills, troubleshoot any issues and build confience at the wheel. If there are specific things you’d like to learn (eg, throwing bigger/taller, vase shapes, lidded jars etc) we can help you work on these.
This session is all about developing on the wheel. We’ll encourage you to try different forms and challenge yourself with larger pieces of clay to make sure you really learn a lot in the day.
How many people in a class: 6 students
Teachers: Potters Izzy Letty and Jago Poynter run these sessions. See opposite for who is teaching on which day.
Lunch: There’ll be a 30 minute lunch break - bring your own lunch/snacks as there isn’t a shop close by. Coffee and teas available at the studio.
What can you expect to make: There’s no limit to how many pieces you can make - it depends on how quick you are! But in terms of firing/finishing pieces, you choose your favourite 3 pieces which we will trim, glaze and fire for you.
Extra pieces to be glazed/fired are £10 a piece which goes towards materials and kiln firing costs.
