Studio Pass is a light wheel throwing studio membership program.
It is specifically for potters who are confident throwing, trimming, glazing and working independently. There is no teaching.
For those hoping to develop their ceramics practice in a respectful community of like-minded potters.
Ideal candidates are those who have done a course or two with us and want to continue a 1 x session per week of independent development of their ceramics practice.

We offer two ways to access the studio as a Studio Pass member, depending on whether you prefer a regular, guaranteed session each week or the flexibility to choose when you come in.
Option 1: Dedicated Weekly Slot
Your regular time, reserved for you every week.
Our weekday evening and weekend morning sessions are popular times to make pottery. While courses run in the main studio during these times, members can access our smaller downstairs studio, which has two pottery wheels.
Dedicated Weekly Slot membership gives you a fixed, recurring 3hr session reserved for you every week. You choose your preferred time when applying and, if successful, that time is yours each week.
Available slots:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday evening
Saturday or Sunday morning
Availability is very limited, with just two wheels in the downstairs studio. These dedicated slots are ideal if you have a regular time that suits your schedule.
If you want to swap your allocated time for an Open Access time one week, that shouldn’t be an issue. Just pop us an email. Eg, your dedicated slot is Tuesday evenings but you want to come in on a Sunday afternoon.
Option 2: Flexible Open Access
Four sessions a month, booked around your schedule.
If you prefer flexibility, our Studio Pass with Flexible Open Access gives you four sessions per month to use during the available (Open Access hours listed in the next drop down)
You choose and book your sessions each month, depending on what suits you. However, Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri evenings and weekend mornings are not included in Flexible Open Access, as these are reserved for courses in the main studio and dedicated weekly slot members in the downstairs studio.
This option is ideal if you can visit during other Open Access times and don't need a fixed weekly session.
Which option is right for you?
Dedicated Weekly Slot: A guaranteed, recurring weekly session at your chosen weekday evening or weekend morning time.
Flexible Open Access: Four sessions per month, giving you the freedom to choose and book available sessions each week, excluding Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri evenings and weekend mornings.
Both options let you enjoy regular time in the studio; the difference is whether you prioritise a guaranteed prime-time slot or flexibility over when you visit.

With an Open Access Studio Pass you have up to 12 hours of studio time each month during our dedicated Open Access times.
Open Access times are split into 3hr chunks. You must book the whole session. eg, over a month you may do 1 × 3hr session on weeks 1+2 each, nothing on week 3 and then 2× 3hr sessions on week 4.
Sessions are booked through your Acuity member account (on our website), with bookings available up to 30 days ahead.
Hours reset each month and do not get carried over.
-
Unlike the Full Studio Membership, you do not get your own dedicated shelf for storage of work and their own tools.
Instead you have access to to WIP communal shelves for freshly thrown work. Time limits apply for work on communal shelves. You are responsible for your own drying.
You cannot leave any of your own tools in the studio. You have access to our studio tools, or you must bring in your own each session and take them away with you.
-
Reasonable use of our White Stoneware clay and our house glazes, included in your Studio Pass monthly fee.
Use clay freely and then pay for exactly what you fire. (See firing charges in “Firing” below)
We use only one clay in the studio to avoid contamination of reclaim.
-
Kilns are managed by our trained technician team. Full Members and Studio Pass members are strictly not allowed to operate kilns, load or unload.
We fire our bisque to 900 and our glaze to 1250.
Firing Charges
Firing is charged to members separately at £6 per kg, weighed at leather-hard stage. (This fee accommodates both the combined bisque and glaze firing).
We fire kilns as and when they are full to be as environmentally friendly as possible. In quiet periods kilns might be put on a little less.
Note that both our memberships are not aimed at potters wanting to fire either large volumes of pieces, or very large items for commission work. A reasonable usage policy operates and we’ll manage this with members on a case by case basis if we deem firing requests to be excessive. This is to ensure fair use for all members and based on limited kiln capacity due to course firing requirements. We cannot prioritise work to be rushed through our kilns.

Open Access Studio Pass members will have access to our booking system on our website. The open access times are split into 3hr member sessions which can be booked 30 days in advance, and up to 10 minutes before.
Per month you can book 4 × 3hr member sessions. You will be given 4 credits per 30 day rolling period. 1 x credit books 1 × 3hr member session. You may book back to back sessions, or recurring sessions.
(This works out as 3hrs per week, but credits can be used at any time during the month. Unused hours do not get rolled over monthly.)
Once inducted and signed up to our booking system, you’ll be able to see how many credits you have left that month.
You can cancel a booked session up to 12hrs before. After that a £5 missed session fee will apply. This is to deter members from blanket booking sessions without turning up to them and ensure fair usage for everyone.
(Note the above doesn’t apply for Studio Pass Dedicated Weekly Slot members)
-
Studio Pass membership is £140 per month. Billed month.
It is the same for both Open Access + Dedicated Weekly Slot options
(Note: A full membership costs £270 per month.)
There is a 2 month minimum initial sign up commitment. After that it continues on a monthly rolling basis. You must give 1 months written notice if you’d like to cancel your membership. To allow us time to fill your space.
-
Maintaining a safe working environment for all is a non negotiable and members will need to adhere to our health and safety protocols, while also being respectful of studio equipment.
But alongside safety, creating a respectful, supportive, friendly atmosphere for all members, work exchange and staff members is very important to us.
If we deem anyone is not adhering to the above, we may ask you leave the membership program.
