A two hour introduction to working with clay on the wheel. Ideal for those totally new to pottery who’d like to learn wheel throwing in a supportive studio environment. You’ll learn the fundamentals of throwing pots - centring, pulling up walls, shaping the form - and take home a piece you’ve made with your hands which the studio will glaze and fire for you.

Get a taste of what it’s like to work with clay at the wheel in our light filled studio environment.

These sessions are also perfect for anyone with an existing practice wanting to spend a couple of hours at the wheel, without the commitment of a course.

Terms & Conditions

  • The 2-for-1 offer is valid for one paying participant plus one guest only.

  • The free place must be used on the same class and date as the paying participant.

  • Maximum of one free guest per booking.

  • The class will start with a short throwing demo from your teacher covering centring clay, opening up, pulling and shaping simple vessels.

    Then, at your own dedicated wheel and under the guidance of your tutor, you’ll spend the rest of the session throwing forms. Small cups, bowls and other simple shapes. You can throw as many pieces as you like in the session.

    At the end, you’ll select your favourite piece which the studio will carefully dry, trim, fire, glaze, fire again and package for you. Additional pieces are £10 to cover material/firing costs. Pieces are ready for collection roughly 4 weeks post-session.

  • Wear clothes/shoes you don’t mind getting a little mucky. We have aprons for you.

    Hair tied back and short nails if possible but don’t worry to much if not.
