FAQs

  • When your pottery has been trimmed, fired and glazed, you will receive an email letting you know you it’s ready to collect from the studio. In the email will be instructions for when to collect from the studio.

Note that this is generally 4-6 weeks after the class however this is dependant on how many kilns are firing as we only run a kiln when it’s full to limit the environmental impact.

  • Yes, as an alternative to collecting your pottery pieces when they are ready, we can package and arrange shipping.

Depending on the size / weight / number of pieces, this will be roughly £10-20. Email us to arrange.

  • Missing a Session – Our Studio Policy

When you sign up for a course, you are committing to attend all scheduled sessions. We strongly encourage students to stay in the flow of their course, as this helps you get the most out of the experience.

We understand that things do occasionally come up - life happens! If you absolutely have to miss a session, we will do our best to accommodate you. To keep things fair and consistent for all students, we apply the following standard policy to allow for one missed sesison per student per course.

    Missed Throwing / Trimming Session

Where possible, we will offer you a place in a different session if a wheel is available during the duration of your course. Ie, if another course is not fulled booked. As a small studio with only six wheels, this is subject to availability — if all wheels are in use, we’re unable to add additional students.

An alternative option is to attend during a session where the rest of the class is glazing (Week 5 of the beginner course), as wheels are typically free at that time.

    Missed Glaze Session

Missed glaze sessions are handled slightly differently:

    • Experienced potters may glaze independently during another session while the class is working in the wheel room.

    • Beginner potters cannot glaze independently while the teacher is with another group. If you miss your glaze session, please let us know and the studio will glaze your work for you using our house clear glaze.

Please email us to enquire about scheduling a ‘make up session’ -

Please Note: Independent Work During Make-Up Sessions

Students attending a make-up session should be aware that they will be working independently. The teacher’s priority and commitment are to the students booked onto the scheduled session taking place.

Make-up sessions are offered where possible and are intended to provide access to studio facilities rather than full instruction.

Please Note: Course Flow & Firing Schedules

Ceramics relies heavily on timing, drying, and firing schedules. We plan, dry, and fire work course by course, and we’re unable to adjust these processes on an individual basis.

As a result, if you attend a make-up session outside the normal course flow, there is a risk that your work may be too dry or may not be fired in time. This risk is accepted by the student when diverging from the set course schedule.

We appreciate your understanding, these policies allow us to run courses smoothly and fairly for all students while maintaining the quality and care that ceramics requires.

  • We can host private groups throwing on the wheel from 2-6 people. Generally these would be a 2hr class but we can tailor to what you’d like.

For a larger group, we can host up to 12 for a mixture of throwing on the wheel and pottery painting.

We can host a max of 16 for handbuilding or pottery painting - this is what we do for hen party events!

Sole use of the studio for your group and we can provide drinks or you can BYOB.

Get in touch via email to discuss your event.

  • Developer - This is aimed at people who have done some pottery before and can centre and pull up walls.. We’d recommend a minimum of one beginner course, or a few private sessions, but ideally those who have completed a couple of courses. It’s small class sizes so lots of tailored tuition from the teacher. Less structured sessions with guidance from a teacher.

Full Day Throwing - All levels welcome. The day starts with a short demo which serves as either instruction or a refresher of core technique. Afterwards, each student works to their own level and the teacher gives bespoke tuition based on this level to each student.

  • You can cancel or reschedule a private class, course or workshop up to 2 weeks before. Being a small studio we unfortunately cannot accommodate anything within the 2 week period.

If you cannot attend, you’re welcome to give your spot to a friend instead!

  • Many pregnant people enjoy pottery safely, and working with wet clay is non-toxic.

To be extra cautious, we recommend avoiding the glazing process during pregnancy, as some glaze materials can produce fine particles or fumes that are best avoided.

If you’re joining a 5 or 6 week course, we suggest skipping the final glazing session — our team will be happy to glaze your pieces for you.

The throwing and hand-building stages are generally considered safe, but participation is entirely at your own discretion and under your doctor’s guidance. Please let us know when booking if you’re pregnant, so we can make sure you’re comfortable and well supported in the studio.
